Outfit inspiration: quirky-smart workwear

I work in a large office on the outskirts of Nottingham, and the dress code is a rather confusing.  In theory, it’s supposed to be business formal, however it ends up being more business casual, and by Friday full on casual casual.

In my foray into weigh and pay sales, I decided to buy a selection of cheerful shirts, which could be pared with black basics (skinny jeans, wiggle skirts, mini-skirts etc) to make a slightly quirky but ultimately smart business-appropriate outfit.

One of the shirts was particularly awesome, in that it’s white, short sleeved, with a red and black squiggly pattern on, with a pussy-bow neck tie.  This goes exceptionally well with skinnies, flat pumps and a black cardi buttoned up under the bow but left undone the rest of way down.

Outfit details:

  • Cardi – H&M
  • Blouse – vintage
  • Jeans (not seen) – Dorothy Perkins

Have you got any great vintage blouses?  Let me know in the comments!
